The Kap Shui Mun Bridge is the world's longest cable-stayed span carrying both road and railway.  The main span steelwork was fabricated at Shekou in China mainland and assembled on site into units of 8.7 metres (28 feet) long, the deck slabs being cast on each unit before erection.  The 500-tonne units were floated out on a barge, lifted into position and the cable stays connected.

 

The overall length of the Kap Shui Mun Bridge is 820m, the length of span is 430m, tower height is 150m, shipping clearance is 47m, structural steel is 4,800 tonnes, the weight of deck sections are 500 tonnes, the volume of concrete is 73,000 m3, total number of stay cables is 176.
