The single tube highway tunnel is approximately 630m in length at +1% gradient from Discovery Bay Portal to Siu Ho Wan Portal.  The tunnel will be operated for bi-directional traffic flow with a speed limit of 50km per hour.

To keep the environment of the Discovery Bay relatively free from pollution and traffic, only public buses operating authorised residents' services and goods vehicles engaging in goods delivery or other services are allowed to use the tunnel. Private cars and taxis are prohibited from entering Discovery Bay via the Tunnel Link. It is a private road tunnel built and to be maintained and operated by the Discovery Bay Road Tunnel Company Limited.
