Mount Elizabeth Hospital is an existing 485 bed Hospital, which recently undergoes a complete upgrading programme. J Roger Preston (S) Pte Ltd is involved in this upgrading exercise of the whole hospital from 1988 to 1992.

J Roger Preston (S) Pte Ltd is also involved in the construction of a new Medical Office Building as part of the Hospital’s upgrading programme.

All the existing hospital’s facilities, including the Wards, Operating Theatres (upgrading and expansion), NICU, Renal Care, Radiology, Obstetrics and Oncology Centres, were upgraded.

Three new 1200 kW air cooled chillers were installed in the new Medical Offices Building to also link to the present facilities to meet the increased chilled water demand, and to segregate the Medical Centre provisions from the hospital’s facilities.

The hospital’s upgrading and expansion programmes were successfully carried out in various phases whilst the hospital is in operation, over a 5-year period, since 1987.

The Mount Elizabeth Hospital is an intensive care specialist currently providing 45 beds, 9 operating theatres, 8 delivery rooms, ICU, CCU, diagnostic radiology, renal dialysis and accident and emergency unit.

J Roger Preston (S) Pte Ltd undertook the planning of the new hospital extension and the design of the building services for the Medical Centre Building.

The expansion included a new cancer centre and obstetrics suites, increased the operating theatre suites to 14, added 64 specialist units and installed two linear accelerators.

The obstetrics suites include 2 caesarian section theatres, 13 delivery rooms, a unit for 15 neonates and a clinic for in vitro fertilisation (IVF). It offers the first purpose built IVF facilities in Singapore
