The Macau Tannery, completed in 1982 was the most modern in Asia at that time, using advanced technology and equipment from Italy, necessary to produce a variety of high-quality leather goods. In addition to the basic environmental systems of ventilation; air conditioning; electric power; lighting; cargo lifts; and fire protection; the firm was appointed to design the piped installations to include the steam and compressed air. A number of fail-safe operations were incorporated with controls of the tannery equipment itself to avoid spilling obnoxious effluent which is a natural byproduct of the tannery industry.
