The Asia Society Hong Kong Center has identified the former Explosives Magazine of Victoria Barracks at Justice Drive, which was designated as “Grade 1 Historic Buildings / Structures” by the Antiquities and Monuments Office in 1998, for setting up a permanent venue.

There are two main platforms within the 7,800 sqm currently vacant site, accommodating 4 historical buildings, namely the Old Laboratory, Magazine A and Magazine B on the upper platform and a building named Block GG on the lower platform.  All historical buildings will be restored and converted as part of the development.

The total GFA of all building is estimated to be about 3,000 sqm.  The Magazine A will be converted to a major exhibition area for ancient and modern arts.  The Magazine B will be utilized for Performance / Lecture / Multi-purpose Theaters.  The Old Laboratory Building will accommodate uses such as Visitor Center, Conference / Lecture / Offices / Café.  The Block GG will become a Maintenance Building where M&E facilities are located.
