The museum is a 4 storey building covering a 13,500 sqm floor area.  Special features include custom designed lifting and moving equipment to handle delicate exhibits and fire protection systems specifically designed to protect irreplaceable works of art.

The project awarded HKIA Certificate of Merit (1990).
